Central Park Safari!

A bit breezy and cool yesterday, but the sun was strong, and just about every turtle in the pond at the south end of the park was basking... here's a fine looking Painted Turtle:

Image

The one on the left could be a wood turtle, and the other dark one looks like a small snapper to me. Whatever they are, I've never seen more than one species basking together...

They were all very active, climbing in and out and swimming around. Probably trying to fatten up for winter; the signs are definitely in the air the last few days.

The ducks were also busy fattening up for their upcoming epic flight south... I tried to get some in-flight pics, but it didn't work out. this is nice, though...

Bottoms up!

Lovely shots :)

Bet the 3 on top of the rock weren't expecting a sneak attack from the ground! ;)
A camera-shy duck? ;D

Great stuff :)

Cheers,
Carl
