Little bit of nostalgia

Not sure where to post this as I didn't take it. I have very few photos of my early life so anything I can find is priceless. I found this in an old copy of the Shoreham Airport News while looking for something else. It doesn't say as much so I can't prove it but that looks very much like me swinging the prop.

The aircraft is Tiger Moth G-ALVP in the colour scheme (red & silver) as it was in 1960 when I started work at the Southern Aero Club. (It was replaced in 1961 & struck off the register.) The instructor in the front cockpit is my boss & mentor - the one & only Cecil Pashley.

Wonderful shot and a good bit of history there I bet Doug ;)

You had to be standing on your toes to swing that one as she is a good size aeroplane.

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

Wonderful memories. I'm convinced that's me.

Think that's more the old pair of trousers I'm wearing. I didn't earn much in those days. I was over 6 feet tall so didn't have to stretch. The old Tiger is a very easy aircraft to swing for someone of average height. The prop is in just the right position. My boss was much shorter than me so I doubt he could ever have swung a prop. Not on a Tiger anyway.

What a strapping young fellow.

Thanks James. That was when men was men & women was glad of it. :-X 8) :D

Nice Pic Doug!

I think If I remember correctly that there is currently a Tiger Moth based at shoreham ( I think it's a blue one,  maybe even blue/ yellow.) Which is owned by a chap named Ian..  He's a friend of the people we always stay at when in the U.K.
