Beauvechain Defence Days (2)

Postby deadkennedy » Sat Sep 09, 2006 6:26 pm

Some more pictures from Beauvechain. In the morning the weather was nice, but when the airshow started, it got very clouded and dark. Not very good for taking photos.

Belgian trainers flyby: T-33, Fouga Magister and Alphajet.

F-16 takeoff.

F-16 vs Spitfire. I prefer the Spit.

Image

Fouga takeoff Belgian style. I'll be sorry to see these planes go into retirement.

B-17 came back from her display with one of the engines smoking.

More Spitfire.

Hercs in formation, about to drop paratroopers.

That's it for me, hope you liked them.

Nice shots there Frank.

That looks like the Golden Apple T-33 that pranged at Duxford last week. http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=genav;action=display;num=1157555577

Very nice... the B17 and Soit landing shots look as if someone had a modern camera back during the war: the Spit with the old hangars behind it, and the B17 landing with engine trouble.   8)

Looks like the spectator line was pretty close to the runway (?).

I agree with you Frank that the Spit is much nicer than the Falcon ;D

There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

Wow, that's some bad news. They gave an excellent display.  Good thing the crew survived. But another nice oldie gone to airplane heaven ... Got this pic of her taking off.

Those old hangars are still used by our F-16's.  ;D But I know what you mean. ;) Just to bad the B-17 didn't gave rides, you couldn't even get close. But the sound it made when they started the engines.  :o Something I will never forget.

We weren't that close to the runway, the shots were taken with my cheapo 200mm lens, that's why the quality is rather poor. I ordered a new Sigma but I'm still waiting for that one.

I'm glad you guys liked the pics. Thank's for looking,
Frank.
