American Airpower Musum- part 1

Postby beaky » Sat Sep 02, 2006 10:22 pm

As promised, here's some snaps from my brief tour of the AAM at Republic after I took my unforgettable B-17 ride:

Guarding the front door is this very tired Republic Thunderstreak...

Many of the great "Thunder" series of military aircraft first took to the sky from this very field, en route to combat in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam

You're in the midst of this marvelous collection right away; by the time you go through that door you're firmly in the past.

A very detailed tribute to the Tuskegee Airmen, who never lost a bomber and also scored very well on ground attacks... that is a very large fiberglass replica Mustang.

There is just so much stuff here, including some of the finest models and dioramas I've ever seen.

oh, nice!

seems like they have expanded for goood, certainly more stuff than the last time i visited about 3/4 years ago...are the P40, 47 and F4u still there? when i went they had a skyrider and one of the doolittle riders, as well as a Memphis Belle (i think the one used n them ovie) parked outside, and they were restoring a Skymaster from the vietnam era...

great stuff man!

Nice shots Sean...very nice :)

Would like to hear or see more if you have the time on the Cessna 337.
I wouldn't think it would be a long restoration project and is it perhaps going to go back to flying status? :)

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

I didn't see a "Mixmaster" on display anywhere, but I'll ask next time I'm there.
I thing Dave (fly2e) is planning to be there tomorrow- maybe he'll look into it.
