Elvington - ASK21 glider

The clouds were low, he was touching cloudbase at the top of the loops.

Its part of the RAF GSA (Gliding and Soaring Association), which is basically the RAF's own well funded gliding club (as opposed to its Volunteer Gliding Schools, who fly ATC cadets in military serialled gliders). It flys mainly for RAF/MOD airfields but i believe member ship may well be open to civilians as well as serving personnel.

There were supposed to be two gliders flying in formation, but one of the pilots was unable to attend on the Sunday so this one was a solo demonstration.  He had to release lower than planned because of the cloud cover which meant a shorter routine.  Very impressive though, and very smooth.

lol, least you can see him...last time he was at an airshow by me he spent his whole routine in the clouds/haze and the only time we saw him was when he came by AFTER landing...... ya it was a pretty crappy weather day....
