RAF Cottesmore today

Bad quality, because of the weather, but here's some shots from RAF Cottesmore this afternoon. For those who like Harriers!

To bad about the grey weather, but the groundshots are simply amazing! Did they do STOL landing?

Cheers,

Omag

I like the last shot. This reminds me - Airbourne's on in a couple of weeks. The boys should be at Shoreham for a few days. That's what started it all for me 3 years ago.

STOL landings indeed. In fact, they didn't even use the runway. They just came in slowly over the taxiway, and landed over the other side of the airfield.

I'm in the same position. There used to be lots of RAF stations around here. They were all closed down years ago. :'(

I'm not sure they were as friendly towards photographers in those days.

Nice shots, i wish the Australian Air Force would buy some cool planes like the Harrier. The only jets i get over my house are a couple of F-18s and some hawk trainers, although i have seen a few F-111s. (Lots of purty helos though lol)

Funny thing, lots of enthusiasts over here wish madly that some Aussie F-111s or F18s would come over here. Wish lists for the coming RIAT always have the Aussie F111 feature strongly...

Yes indeed. The F-111 would be one thing to turn up for, alone!

Those harriers are quite cool, my uncle flew with them for awhile and even married one of cottesmores ATC  ;D ;) (they are in alaska now tho)  The squadron even came to Tucson to use the target range and my uncle got me onto the base to meet some of the pilots and see the jets up close  ;D sweet things  ;D
