"Severe weather avoidance plan in effect..."

So says the ATIS at KEWR at the moment...

Hadn't checked the weather forecast, so this sudden hailstorm took me by surprise. Had to rush to close some windows and missed getting a pic of the best part, but there was still some good-sized hail coming down when I got this:

There was one incredibly loud thunderclap during the downpour; sounded like a cannon shot. Cool.

I was once caught in a freak hailstorm whilst returning from a shower at summer camp in colorado.  The hail hurt my legs as I sprinted to my tent for safety ;D

We got hit pretty hard down this way earlier and it is still thundering out there!!

  Heavy rain, lots of lightning strikes and 60 mph winds!!!!

That came through here yesterday afternoon and tipped semi's over with hurricane force winds. :P

Ah yes, very sad, but we had the same sort of day here. Over 100F,  after over a week of similarly hot, very sticky weather. But that kind of roaster of a day here in the NYC area is often followed by a hailstorm... it was a nice break, actually.

So you "win". ;D
