A little excitement for the afternoon..
Too bad it was at someone elses expense.
I was sitting in my basement, flying FS and I hear this great big boom. I know we were supposed to get thunderstorms later today, but not until the evening. I thought that maybe my cat jumped off the chair or something upstairs too. She's fat, but not that fat.
So, being the enquiring young lad I am, I take a peek outside my basement window. Also then, I hear the most obnoxious horn noise. I see out my window the power lines dancing up and down. "Hmm" I said, "That's not normal". So I go outside and "Woah!" I said. There was a pickup truck plowed into the trees outside my house. That loud noise was the horn. Power lines were down, and I didn't want to risk going over to see if people were seriously hurt. Luckily, just then the door opened and the two guys inside stepped out, ducking under the wires. The one guy, the driver had a bloody nose, and the passenger had a few scrapes. Still, I called 911. About a half hour passed
and the ambulance came, along with 3 cops. I was sort of eavesdropping on their conversation, and I heard the driver say he fell asleep at the wheel. Wuh-oooh.
He said he didn't remember the crash at all.. Not good. So the ambulance took them away and now we can't access our driveway.
Our phone and cable lines are lying in the road and our driveway. Oddly, we still have both services. Also our power is from an underground line, so we're safe there. They might turn it off though when they fix the telephone pole. So the truck took out our mailbox and newspaper box, along with a telephone pole. And he was only going, from the cops guess, about 30mph. Amazing the sort of damage a car can do.
Enough chitchat, heres the pics.
