Wow...; that's the best look at a "Cranberry" that I've seen; great job!!
What are those things poking out of the wings? Brakes?

Nice shots, interesting fact.....when the Canberra retires, no RAF plane will have a wooden component! (part of the tailfin is wood)
Sad to see her go

Rumour has it that Air Atlantique are buying a couple of the Canberras and will be flying them privately at airshows from next year.
I still remember my time as an Air Cadet on my first camp at RAF Wyton and the hours spent with the Canberras and the photographic unit learning all about how to read the snaps they'd taken. A wonderful adventure

Thanks y'all, she sure is a true classic and a shame to see her leave service before her time (Concorde anyone)

At least, as Ozzy says, there will be a few in civilian hands (along with current AA flyer WK163)

Not really before her time. The RAF have been trying to replace the old girl for 40 years. First with the TSR2, then with the Tornado... The Canberra is a bit like the Swordfish. Severely outdated but far too good at it's job to be ditched.
Remember when ever there was an inquirey into designing a Multi-Role Combat Aircraft the acronym would always be turned into Must Replace Canberra Again by the RAF.

There was an article about the PR.9 in Airforces Monthly, last month.
I never knew that they carried the same optical sensors and data-links as the U2 spy plane, but the Canberra was more stable and manoeuvrable at altitude! :o
With attributes like that It makes you wonder why they don

One of the few jet types that I have a bit of a soft spot for, along with the VC-10 and Vulcan. Sad to see it go but hope to see a few around with private operators for a few more years yet. Nice photos by the way.

I would hope someone puts one in a museum and they keep one flying for airshows.
Great aircraft

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug
