Decided to head around to the SE corner of Newark Airport to do some spotting on the way home. Saw this as I approached on the turnpike: I think that's a Cub; and overhead a ubiquitous FedEx 3-holer.




Had the sunroof open, cameara ready, red light at the center of the south end of the field, and... didn't quite get this one. Nowhere to pull over here (and would probably attract unwelcome attention  anyway).




The parking lot by the Ikea provides good opportunities, but again, there are nervous cops hanging around there. While one of them was busy writing a bus driver a ticket(?) I took a few pics of arriving aircraft, making a mental note to come in the morning next time.... no good shooting to the west this late in the day.

Yeah, I went spotting in the Ikea parking lot and was asked to leave. I showed them my camera too and emptied my pockets, but they still wanted me outta there. They were only security guards I know, but I don't want to piss anyone off within 30 miles of Newark.

Come to Belgium! Here they leave spotters alone!  ;D

My new plan is to go have breakfast at the Ikea restaurant (which has huge windows showing a lovely view of the airport)... I'll disguise the camera as a plate of Swedish meatballs.

That was the last exposure of 4 in a burst... a half-second later, and I'd have got the whole plane in the frame. D'oh...
