But here's some whacky stuff that he didn't post, and something very poignant that I totally did not expect to see there.
First, an unusual thing to see on the flight line: a lovingly restored (or replicated) Higgins landing craft. This wooden tub was just as important on D-Day (among other days) as any of the other military vehicles involved... did the job very well.
"Forget the P-61...look at meee! Aren't I something?"
this little guy just wanted some attention. I don't know what it is, but it looks like it'd either be a real sweet flyer, or a total nightmare.

While shuffling towards the shuttle bus, I noticed quite a few scrapped aircraft piled in a parking area/dump at the bottom of a rubble-strewn cliff at the edge of the airport. And much to my amazement, among them was the still-elegant remains of a Reading Airlines Dove... sigh... very sad to see her like that, but a nice surprise, too. I have to come back here and get a closer look.
I call this simply:
"The End".
