Pretty crowded at show center, so I didn't get any shots of the simulated rescue in the water, but these are OK... the ANG 106th Rescue Wing simulating a Combat Search-And Rescue:

First the massive HH-60G Pave Hawk moves in with a team of divers aboard- I think they went after someone deployed from a rescue boat to simulate a pilot in the water... couldn't see, and couldn't hear the announcer too well.

The Hawk is normally supported by a C130P with refueling gear; they brought it in low with hoses deployed:

Then they made several circuits with the chopper in hot pursuit of a drogue, almost but not quite making contact (I imagine they only go so far for safety purposes, but they got much, much closer than this).
The lady pilots from the AOPA boards who were with me found this very amusing for some reason... ;D; when the chopper finally veered off, seeming to give up, one of them said: "Well, no wonder!!" LOL- lady pilots: always a little bawdier than the usual bunch. My kinda gals... it was fun meeting them at last. ;D
BTW, I got some great video of this bit, coming soon (relatively speaking) to YouTube.

The Pave Hawk pilot brings it back to show center, to take a well-deserved bow. Very nice handling of this brute...

Okeley-dokeley, time for the big Heritage Flight: not many planes, but what an odd and wonderful mix. Kids, can you name them all? ;)

They look surreal together like this, and boy, does that Mustang- itself a beast when seen up close- look puny compared to the more
modern fighters!

Wanna see them again? Me, too. Here they come...

Next: The Blue Angels (big finale)!!

LOL... and the cry of this odd bird is an eerie, ringing"eeeeeeee..." mixed with "brupadupadupadup"... this formation was just too cool for words or even pictures. and they stayed formed up through several racetrack circuits.  8)

That heritage looks nice.  The one I saw at SoF was Tarheel Hal with an F-15 and A-10
