So I headed out to Alexandria today with my dad after a major thunderstorm had passed through.. I'll post a few pics of the storm clouds later.

Nice 172RG. My dad and I couldn't figure out whats on the right underwing.. Anyone know?

Tail shot. I thought it looked neat with the pink rhododendrons (pronounced roh-DUH-den-druns) in the background.

Cessna 172M. Sharp looking paint job.

Piper Archer, all bundled up.

The resident oldie of Alexandria. A classic Vultee BT-15 circa 1943. Fully restored with a red-checker paint job. I saw her flying earlier today and I found her parked here. :)

That's all for today. It started raining soon after that Vultee shot, plus I didn't get any takeoffs/departures. Oh well maybe next time.

Hope you enjoyed

James

Maybe. I've never seen it here though. Maybe it quickly ducked in before the storm hit.

looks like a weather or atmosphere measuring device, that they used to have on the cessnas that flew from cfb suffield.

Nice pics considering the conditions James. That pod might be a weather radar installation as fitted to the Pilatus PC-12 right wing tip. Here's one I took earlier. http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/da-IMG_1791.jpg

Nice shots!! :)

Could be a Sniffer.  We have Cessnas flying over all the time following the natural gas lines checking the air for any signs of a leak.  Believe me they fly low and are moving pretty quick.

Those are interesting... :) Moody.
My guess about the pod is that  it's an ordinary weather-radar pod.
But I'm not surprised that Marotta owns a loaded T210 (not a 172RG); check out what they make:

If its a radar pod its got a weird setup, normally radar pods are mounted IN the wing not UNDER the wing (as on the pilatus, I like the PC-12, its cool!)
