A new Weather Station...!

Postby Fozzer » Thu May 11, 2006 2:39 pm

As a keen motorcyclist, FS Simmer, and occasional Pilot I am obviously always interested in the weather, not wishing to get wet, or blown about unnecessarily...
...so...
Today I went out and bought myself a nice Weather Station to hang outside on the fence...
...(amongst the bird poo!)...

Image

It has a dial which indicates the barometric air pressure to tell me if a storm is on the way...?
A dial to tell me the amount of water vapour in the air to tell me if it is raining...or not..?
And a dial to tell me the air temperature...do I need to put on an extra woolly jersey...?

The only thing it hasn't got is an anemometer to tell me if the wind is blowing...:'(...!

..other wise it's a handy piece of kit.
If the weather gets too bad to go outside, I can just sit indoors and watch the dials...
...sorted... ;D...!

Paul...whatever the weather is like... 8)...!

Very smart Paul but if you put it outside and it is raining then how are you going to read it (and find out it is actually raining) without getting wet?

I quite agree Mark.

Foz, get a refund and find yourself one of these much cheaper weather stations...

I'm not as daft as I look...
It hangs on the fence just outside my window as I sit here on my cozy 'puter chair casting the occasional glance in its direction as the skies get forever darker, and the gathering storm outside brews more evil by the minute, and the dials wizz round and round...
Much more fun that Flight Simming...
...trust me.. ;)...!

It takes the smallest gust of wind to pass in one ear and out the other to set off my strong wind warning ;D. Or is it the beans??... ::)

Very nice... I have an instrument that does the same things... it's called a "window". ;D

That and my trusty old scanner to pick up the KEWR ATIS... ;D
I'd say that the only really useful thing about your new "piece of kit" is that it might do well at detecting trends...
But then again, so does a look out the window and a sniff of fresh air... hmmmm... ;D

I already get all this technical weather info off the Internet....

...but you can tap your Monitor screen as much as you like, me old Mate, and you will never get the satisfaction of watching a Barometer needle move in the direction of either the "Sun" or the "Cloud"...!

Now that's Priceless... ;D...!

LOL...!

Paul...just call me "Sunshine"... 8)...!

...it's also called a "toy"...
...and we all know how much we all like toys.. ;)...!

Well, for wind there's always the good old finger...just lick it and hold it up...then rotate it all around you...you should notice which way the wind is blowing... ;D ;D

WOWZERS, Ash...!

You are the only device missing from my Trusty Weather Station...

You can stand on the fence above my device, whirling your wet finger above your head, and then point in the direction of the prevailing wind... ;D...!

An Ashamometer!

(How much do you cost, including air fare)..?

An Ashamometer! Sounds like something to indicate how bad the fire was. ;D

As a keen motorcyclist... ...and occasional Pilot...
Was I misinformed? I was informed that, the way you ride a motorcycle, it's one and the same and not so occasional. 8)
