More from Old Warden

Postby Hagar » Tue May 09, 2006 3:54 am

So nice to be back at this little piece of paradise for the first show of the season. I was hoping Charlie would post a few more of his shots but can't wait any longer. :P
Here's a random selection taken throughout the day to give some of the flavour. You never know quite what to expect at this wonderful place. It started out very dull indeed but the rain held off & conditions improved as the day went on. ;)

Not one but two Flitzers. Never seen one before.

The little Comper Swift. Disappointing not to see this fly (Last minute engine problems).
Image

F-86A from Duxford started the show. This is the best shot I got.
Image

The Piston Provost trainer, forerunner of the Jet Provost.
Image

Richard Shuttleworth's first aeroplane. The DH.60 Cirrus Moth.
Image

Chipmunk doing some barnstorming.
Image

The resident Bucker Jungmann gives a spirited display. (Actually a license-built CASA 1.131.)
Image

The Sea Hurri sparkling in the evening sunshine after the show. Like the rest of the collection's aircraft it looks like it's been receiving a little TLC over the winter.

Goody goody... more of Hagar's treats! Yumm!  ;D

I must say, I think those Flitzers are about the coolest by-planes I've ever seen!  8)

You know? I still think it's kinda sad the Chippie hasn't got a retractable gear... Just look at Hagar's photo... such sleak and delicate lines... but they are broken by those 2 front-struts...  :-/  :)

It's so nice to finally see some of your superb Airshow pics again Hagar old pal ;D I was thinking about going to Old Warden, but work and weather finally put me off. I am now really looking forward to Duxford in two weeks time :)

I think the Piston Provost is more in need of retractable gear. That would be a potent bit of kit without the drag... :)

BLASPHEMY!  It's problem is that it only has one wing!  It needs two, and a proper open cockpit, to be a real training aircraft!

The Fltizer's not too bad looking for a barely 7 year old design!
