The loss in lens speed that is........at a cost of some shutterspeed, you can use a polarizer to enhance colour and eliminate reflections when you deem it necessary.......

To Polarize or not to Polarize...........

I'm sure you can tell which is which.......... note the windsheilds of the foreground cars ...8)

Use it when you need it. There are times when you could need a polariser, if there is excessive glare from water or glass etc, otherwise leave it off. You can obtain a similar enhancement of the colours by under exposing slightly.

Upon second review, I would say it actually has a detrimental effect on colours.  It's truly a per case basis, but on the whole, I'd say it's worth being able to see through glass in exchange for a loss of shutter speed.  I don't honestly see a difference between the blurs of the cars in the two shots. ;)

Of course, any colour lost can easily be made up in Photoshop.  Provided you have it, of course. ::)

The loss in speed is neglible if your just photographing static objects, it's faster subjects where it's too much of a problem.
