My Monday.....HMS Victory

Hi all,

On our way back from France we decided to stop in at Portsmouth & visit Nelson's flagship from the Battle of Trafalgar HMS Victory. The world's oldest commissioned warship. Classed as a first rate ship of the line, Victory took six years to build and was launched on the 7th May 1765 at Chatham Dockyard. At a Cost of

Astounding to see these - I'm from Portsmouth, my parents still live there. Made me feel a bit homesick. But only a bit :) Nice to see it without hordes of people...

Great pics...I visited her only last winter...quite a tour and a real eye opener to see how the regular sailors lived...not to mention what their working conditions were like.

That first shot brings back a lot of memories.  I remember being there when I was about seven years old - we got thrown off after my little cousin dropped a cannonball through the floor!!  Cringe!

Ah, very nice. I'm gonna have to go to Portsmouth oneday to have a look at her. Maybe I'll go in the summer.
