Is it me or does the nose on the Auster look a bit odd?

It's almost like someone took the nose-section of a dehavilland and flunked it on the Auster... kinda doesn't fit right...

Which is basically what they did. This is the traditional Auster fitted with the same inverted Gipsy Major engine as many other British aircraft of the period.
