Sunday fly-in

Been looking forward to this. The first fly-in of the season at Popham. 8)

I set out in brilliant sunshine under a cloudless blue sky but the weatherman had other ideas. By the time I arrived it really looked like it would be pouring with rain by noon as he'd been insisting on the radio. Fortunately it cleared up later & we didn't get the hail & snow until it was time to leave. A very pleasant day out with a surprising number of visitors considering the forecast. I took these at various times during the day to give a little of the flavour.

This is quite a rare bird in these here parts.

Here's a proper Cessna.

Some of the other visitors. It was a Jodel theme today & there were plenty of cranked wings about.

A pretty little Champ.

The ubiquitous Cub.

Finally, two beautiful Moths.

Nice shots Doug. :) Is that a 180 or a 185 in number two?

Lovely... you even had some sun! Makes the planes look so much better!

That Cessna 172 ( B-BSEP) looks a bit heavy in the tail... or was it designed that way?

It's registered as a 140.

All but one of these were taken with my old F401.* I think that proves something. ::) ;)

It might be the angle of the shot. Popham is all up hill & down dale. 8)

*PS. Guess which one is the odd man out. ;)

Actually the blue Moth is the only one in this topic taken with my 350D.

Next question, which type of Moth is it? ;)

Thanks Pete. Yes, it's early days yet but we were allowed to walk round as usual. I was even loaned a hi-vis jacket.

Sweet. Lots of very familiar types there.Particularly like that old straight-tail 172, but I do also love the Moths.
I've got an extra battery and two 512 cards ready for my first visit to ORA this year...I know somebody with a Champ; maybe I can talk him into flying-in there this season... ;D

Indeed Doug, I'll never let go of my 2 MP camera either for this very reason......up close and personal is the forte of them....... ;)
