I GOT IT!!!

Wohoo, she arrived this afternoon!  My Canon Rebel XT!  I've had my Sigma 100-300mm lens for about a week now and was torture watching the UPS tracking of my camera and 2 Gig card! lol

Here are three shots I took with the new beauty just for fun.  It was dark by the time I got home from work so was limited to finding things to shoot inside!

Tomorrow during my lunch break I'll go out to the flightline and get some shots... that is, if the weather cooperates! lol

But yeah, here are some pics of my X-mod (ford truck) and my dad's X-mod (Hummer) along with my RC helicopter. :)  Taken with the kit 18-55mm.

Look forward to your photos. What's the difference between a Rebel XT & a 350D?

Yeah, the 350D/Rebel XT are the same.

Well, had some issues regarding the Sigma lens... but given the limited traffic during my lunch, here are 4 shots.  (of the only traffic today! lol)

Luckily I'm friends with the instructor and he decided to put the helo down accross the taxiway from me once he saw I had the camera.  good thing as I had to switch to the 18-55 lens after they landed. lol

These first two were with the Sigma 100-300 lens... just for fun.  Lots of moving parts there.

One cool thing is that you can actually read the white lettering around that picture with the tail rotor!

Unedited, full size crop of section I'm talking about above.

This is with the kit 18-55 lens.  I set the shutter to about 1/60 to get that nice blur on the tail rotor.  All of these pics were taken during shutdown so everything was spinning quite slowly.   and I was sitting down, and that's why it's actually a clear picture.

Very nice shots! I've read some reports of the standard lense beeing not that good, but hey, if it produces shots like this, I wouldn't complain...  ;)

Yeah I heard a few complaints about the kit lens but I actually heard even more good things about it from the people I spoke with.

I absolutly love it!  No complaints so far.

I have the Nikon counterpart of the 350D, The D70.  I already had Nikon gear so I figured I should get what would go with my lenses.  Unfortunately I wound up selling most of my gear to facilitate a financial hardship, so I went from having a Nikon 600mm f4, 80-400mm f4.5-5.6 VR, 28-70mm f2.8 and 17-35mm f2.8 (about $12,100 of lenses) to having the D70's Kit 18-70mm f3.5-4.5 and a Sigma 70-300mm f4-5.6 that I got for free.  I'll tell you, there's a big difference in optical quality between my old Nikon Pro gear and my current setup, especially telephoto-wise.

I'm glad to see you're enjoying your DSLR, it's a whole different ball game than consumer digicams eh?

Oh, and when switching those lenses alot be careful about dust getting on the sensor, make sure you point the camera down when you're changing lenses, that way nothing falls into it.
