Playing Tourist in NYC- part 4-seaport (pt 1)

My original thought had been to take some pictures at the South Street Seaport Museum, which remains as  a mere shadow of a tiny slice of New York's history as a very busy port in the days of sail. These subjects are a lot easier to photograph than gulls and helicopters... they're not moving! :P


First, the Wavertree, built at Southampton, England in '83 and originally registered in Liverpool. Cast-iron hull and wooden tops. She is no longer operational.

The Helen McAllister, ca. 1900... I think it may still be operational, but I know she was working as recently as 1992. Love these old tugs- there are quite a few of them still puttering around this area.
