So sorry to keep everyone in suspense... ;D Here's the next car I bought after my beloved Fiat was sold off for parts. I now had a job that required more reliable, all-weather transportation, and Volvo wizard Rob Lambie had this decent 242 for sale. The left rear window was of course immediately broken when I first moved to Newark: repaired it temporarily with a hunk of plexi and some wood.

I later moved up into Orange County, NY for a couple of years: rented a little house up a dirt road on a mountain. The dirt driveway (shown here) was rather... interesting, especially in the winter. But this  baby did very well up there, rear-wheel drive and all. Fuel pump went, one very, very cold morning;  then soon after I was looking at a major wiring re-do, at a cost that exceeded the value of the car. So we parted ways...I had to find another car fast, something with decent fuel consumption and 4WD...

Haha... the Tipo... never see any of the modern Fiat types over here; only spiders and the occasional 500. Mine was a 1976 124 Sport Spider (see earlier thread).
I actually sorta like the looks of this Volvo... but there's no accounting for taste. ;)
