Here's the next car I bought after my beloved Fiat was sold off for parts. I now had a job that required more reliable, all-weather transportation, and Volvo wizard Rob Lambie had this decent 242 for sale. The left rear window was of course immediately broken when I first moved to Newark: repaired it temporarily with a hunk of plexi and some wood.I later moved up into Orange County, NY for a couple of years: rented a little house up a dirt road on a mountain. The dirt driveway (shown here) was rather... interesting, especially in the winter. But this baby did very well up there, rear-wheel drive and all. Fuel pump went, one very, very cold morning; then soon after I was looking at a major wiring re-do, at a cost that exceeded the value of the car. So we parted ways...I had to find another car fast, something with decent fuel consumption and 4WD...
