Mahogany Spitfire!

Postby Fly2e » Thu Jan 12, 2006 8:30 am

I wanted to show you this pretty neat model of a Spitfire made out of Mahogany!
My brother gave it to me for Christmas.
It is beautiful and sits right in my office!
Jealous Mark!

Glad it's not just me, although I think that Dave put particular emphasis on the 'nosejob' in pic2 for that very reason! ;)

Very nice christmas Present, saw those were selling for $50...it was made in Vietnam.  A single Vietnamese family makes many models like that, all hand made.

For some reason I find that really cute :D
If it had a Merlin engine, Mark would be round to your house as soon as he could Dave.... :)
Great little model! 8)

If it was a Merlin engined jobbie Dave would have come home to find someone had broken in and nicked it ;D
I have to say it is a beautiful rendition of the XIV however ;)

You are quite right!
I removed that little white "mad in Vietnam" sticker 1st thing.

My brother found this with many, many other types of aircraft at a state fair somewhere in the mid-west!
The guy had no website, no business cards.. etc..  :(

I wish I could find out where I could purchase them from.
My brother said the guy had about 2 dozen vintage/ war bird aircraft, helicopters, tanks, commercial airliners, etc...

Can anybody tell me where I might be able to find more?

Dave
