B-17 & Gooney Bird @ KDQH

I was in Douglas, GA @ KDQH and just happened to see my all time favorite aircraft; the B-17 Flying Fortress. To me, this is the most beautiful plane ever assembled.

Thanks.   I was there visiting my in-laws and when I asked them about the plane, they told me this guy got a gov't grant to fully restore the it to be used as a "rolling museum". Now, I just have to find out where to get the paperwork!

Very nice photos. Shame about the weather but this might add to the effect. The B-17 was often operated in much worse conditions than these. Just imagine what it was like setting out for a mission from a muddy airfield in this sort of weather in the middle of winter.

Nice pictures in spite of the overcast which obscures the detail. I wonder how many actually know that those gun barrels you're staring at in the second picture are sticking out through some giant zippers. 8)
