That's a fair old job you've taken on there & no mistake. :o

Seems to be coming along nicely. Very interesting. I must pop up to Brooklands one of these fine days. Maybe I'll see you there. ;)

Great pictures, thats a fine weekend job you have there!

So sad to see Concorde 202 in such a state, what a far cry from her glory days......  :'( I suppose its better than the breakers yard though.

It still amazes me that supersonic passenger flight is something from our past......

It still amazes me that out of all the times I saw that exquisite bird I never got a photo of it in the air. Ah well. Too late now.

Wow... Impressive hobby you've got there...

How did this bird get so tacky? Was it out of service during a long time? Or is that caused by the transportation and de-assembling?

Keep us posted!

Read my reply up there ^^^
It was basically thrown on a trash pile at Filton. In the end the museum above rescued it and are as you see rebuilding it.

A vaguely remember seeing her in that condition whilst driving past filton a few years ago. Maybe they had to get rid of it to find a place for their NEW concorde which you cant actually see from the road. only joking. Good luck with the project. When its finished might have to come and have a look.(complete my tour of all the concorde in Britain)

Amazing that a flight deck that was once at the leading edge of aviation technology went from this...

Her last flight was in 1981.  Her main job was testing components for other Concordes, so she was fitted with various new components for trial.  In 1984 she became a spare parts donator to other Concordes

Her rear right gear is a modern post 2000 gear.  It has the metal outer shield on the cable and the radial tyres designed to prevent them bursting when cut.  She also has a prototype terrorist proof cockpit door fitted, post 9/11.

Once the outside of her is done, we will start on the inside.  The cockpit will look like the original and have lights etc...  The nose should be fully functional aswell.

Most of her is painted now, alochrome (or alodine for the Americans) is being applied to the bear metal parts.  She has to be sanded completely in some areas, and quite a bit in the others.  Then a number of layers of gloss paint get applied.  Also she will have Diamond polish put on her when she is finished so she will glow in the Sun.  Also stop the bird **** recking the paint, because it just slides straight off the polish.

You can see in the 3rd pick we got quite a lot of the underside of the wing sanded.  We have still got to get most of the other wing done.

When i say this is a huge jigsaw puzzle that is an understatement.  You should see how many bits we have and don't have.  Any we don't have we have to make down at the workshop.  There are  thousands (maybe 10s of thousands) of pieces in lots of boxes in the Strat chamber next to her.

It has been hard work so far, but we are making really good progress.  ;)
