Chuck Mangione at TTMH part 3 (last)
Soundcheck goes pretty well; we go across the street to a nice Cuban place for a quick dinner, then it's time to hang around and fuss with things a little until showtime. The marquee sure looks great, now that it's been restored.

I didn't get carried away with the picture-taking during the show; sorry to disappoint anybody. But I wasn't there to take (sort of illegal) pictures, I was getting paid to be discreet and professional and all that. Full house of big fans, young and old... and Chuck and the boys did not disappoint.
I won't say I sit around at home listening to his records, but every time I do a show with him, I'm reminded that I really like some of the songs. And the band is first-rate; really excellent players.

A closer look. Man, they sounded good- shows how important a talented FOH engineer is to a performance...
I just love the sound of that flugelhorn thru a SM58. It was weird to mix here from a new (worse) position with a new (more sensitive) PA, but I managed to sneak up to the balcony a coupla times (with Maria at the helm), and it sounded pretty good to me.

After the show, we do the whole shebang again, in reverse. No, I wasn't just taking pictures, I actually helped...

Chuck is such a nice cat- didn't talk to him this time, but I saw he had a little table set up in front of the stage after the show, and patiently and sincerely greeted a long line of fans, signing autographs, etc. I spoke to this guy later- he came all the way from Vermont for the show. This must have made his evening, talking to Chuck.

The highlight of my evening? Dashing thru the rain to a nearby ATM to deposit my pay for the day, the minute I walked out of the theater!! Quick, before it bounces!!
Really need that dough this week...

Drive home wasn't too bad, despite the darkness and lashing rain... not a bad day, overall.
