Radial Motor Repair

Sorry these are not the type of radial motors you though they would be.

Very educational- I've never seen or even heard of a  motor powered by hydraulic pressure! I'm thinking about why they might be used for that application.... huge piles of crap underground... methane...?
They sure look good now. I'm curious- what work exactly was done on them?

...all they need is a carburettor, inlet manifold, magneto, five spark plugs, exhaust manifold....a propeller....

We have a super, five-cylinder, radial engine to stick on the nose of our new home-built... ;)... 8)... ;D...!

Yep you sure can use hydraulic/pnuematic motors for all kinds of stuff.. :)

Fozzer,

Put this on the front of your Cessna and you'll be looking at the ground from the cockpit.
They weight a ton ( figure of speech ).

 Well they were in for an overhaul. After so many hours they rotate the motors and send them to us to freshen up.  I magnaflux the shaft to make sure there are no cracks and then a light hone on the cylinder    bore.  Check the valving to make sure there is no scoring.  Then new bearings, piston rings and a complete reseal.  Then lots of grey paint to make them look pretty.  Dyno test them and ship them back.
That's about it!


Thanks. That sounds very pleasant and satisfying compared to what I've been doing for several years now, which involves getting  a headache rather than getting my hands dirty.
 Still wondering why these are used for this application instead of gasoline or electric... any idea?
