Interesting visitor!

Postby Mr. Bones » Sun Sep 25, 2005 12:43 pm

Hi guys,

Sorry I haven't been around very much lately. I've seen many many good photos and screenshots here on the boards the past few weeks, but I wasn't able to reply.

Today we got two breath taking low passes at our local airfield. A P-51D (from Sweden, but based here in Antwerp during summer) came along for two very low passes. We are regulars at the airfield, so we were standing right under the flight path. Pretty impressive believe me!

When time is on my side, I'll post some photos of my trip to New York last week.  ;)

I thought Old Crow was a P-51B?

Nice Shots.

It quite possibly was in an earlier incarnation. Its possible that several Mustangs carried the name at different times during the war...

Beautiful just Beautiful!!  Great shots.

At first I thought it was a TF-51 trainer.  But it looks
like they just remove all the radio equipment to put in
a jump seat.  They use to do that before the TF-51 was
built.  The large flight instructors hated the back seat
because they would hit their head on the canopy.
The TF-51 has a longer canopy.

Went on Bud Anderson's site to check out some info.
Here is a picture of the P-51D he flew that is owned
by Jack Roush.  Check out the two picture after it.
Pretty neat!!
All pictures are from Bud Anderson's web site.

Never thought of painting a car in aircraft colours, though it does look very good!

Thanks for the replies guys. Indeed, there are many Old Crows flying around. The same as for Big Beautiful Doll and probably many others.  ;)
