What is the point of those semi-naked women?  ??? I'd find them really annoying if I was playing or watching. You go there either to play or usually to watch the play, not watching chicks tossing their bodies around.

I have never heard of them in Britain so I take it is purely a US thing?

I think that's a pity. I might suddenly discover a new interest in football if they introduced them here. :D

Actually it is being adopted by alot of rugby teams and some lower league teams.

Where can I find one of these teams? I consider it my duty to record this on camera for the benefit of our members, nothing personal you understand. ;) :D

Meanwhile, guess who has new desktop wallpaper? 8)

:o Ahh. Now I understand. This explains it all. I could never make any sense out of the game but who cares? :D

Exactly. ;D.
I enjoy a little scrimmage with friends as much as the next American (and I can actually throw a football fairly accurately, unlike my attempts with a baseball), but never really got into it on TV, except maybe college ball or really important NFL games. Saw my share of HS games in the marching band... yawn. Only other game I ever attended was the first game at the Dome in Syracuse: I think the Orangemen won; don't remember.

But there are two things I'll sit and watch for hours:
1) Highlights
2)Cheerleaders!!
:D :D :D

See, now this is one of the things that does my head in. If you play the game by throwing the ball with your hands, why the heck do they call it (the ball & the game) football. ??? :P :D

But there are two things I'll sit and watch for hours:

2)Cheerleaders!!

I'll go along with that. Forget the football. ;)

oh boy, someone who doesnt understand why football players have to wear pads.
You see rugby has these silly rules in order to protect its players such as restricting the types of tackles your allowed to use. In football these guys run head first into each other quite often with a force alot more than any rugby tackle. Next the size of these guys, i read the average weight of a rugby player is 185lbs, sure you get some 220 to 240 but those are few and far between. 220 is your average player weight for American football. those guys on the line of scrimmage there, all weigh 270lbs+ you got a 250lb linebacking corp and a bunch of receivers and corners running at full speed all 200+lbs. Alot of beef and muscle.
Sorry rant time :-X
