Over my House

Here are some shots I've taken of the airliners going
over my house.  I live where they start to line up their
approach into Philadelphia International Airport (PHL)
runways 27L and 27R.  At this point they are at about
3000 to 5000 feet.  3000 feet is the minimum altitude
because of a hospital nearby.  UPS and FED-EX almost
always come in at minimum altitude.  Enjoy the shots
even though they may be a little grainy because of
making fit.

Very nice shots. :D

My late uncle used to live in Hounslow, right below the final approach to Heathrow, depending on the wind direction of course. I loved visiting him & laying on my back in his garden watching them come over, about one every two minutes in those days. I could easily read the registrations with my naked eye. Wish I'd had a camera back then as this was in the late 50s, the days of real airliners. ;)

I don't believe I have.  The only four engine UPS i've
seen are the 747's.  I'll have to keep a eye out for the
DC-8.  Thanks

Sweet... and i thought I had a good seat!! I live very close to KEWR, but they rarely come over the house. Occasionally if
I'm on an errand in the east part of town, I'll see one coming in much lower than that... but have yet to capture that successfully with a camera.

When my sister lived in her old apartment, I loved to go up on the roof and watch planes on approach to Philly. Also, the hospital was right around the block so you could almost reach out and touch the MediVac. :)

Nice shots.

Thanks All!!!  Majority of the jets are U S Air.   I see
alot of Southwest also but, haven't had the camera
at the right time.  My neighbors always complain that
they are to low and to noisy.  I tell them to move if it
bothers them.  I love it and it's not really that loud
because at this point they are just cruising a little above
stall speed.

Wonderful shots!! In case anyone is wondering...here is the order of the aircraft in the pics:

1st Shot: Airbus A330-323X (US Airways)
2nd Shot: (See Above)
3rd Shot: De Havilland Dash 8-102 (US Airways)
4th Shot: Airbus A319-112 (US Airways)
5th Shot: Boeing 767-34AF/ER (UPS)
6th Shot: Boeing 737-301 (US Airways)

Not meaning to be a plane geek....just thought people might be interested to see what aircraft is which...
Cheers all,
Ashar
