SimV/Pilot Lounge Fly-in
Posted: Mon Sep 12, 2005 8:19 pmWhat an awesome weekend I had- in the air Saturday and Sunday!! Unheard of!! Tried to narrow down the number of pics, but it seems I've still got a huge spam-bomb here. Anybody gets sick of this series, feel free to tell me to stop. and I will ignore you. ;D
Didn't do my flight Saturday morning; only had 1 hr. booked, got there late, plane needed fuel, line at pump, etc... decided to re-sched for Sunday, with a bigger block of time.
fortunately, the lovely day won't go to waste... I've arranged to meet Marco and his wife Helen, and join them on a little jaunt to Cape May. Here we see Marco topping off this very nice Cherokee, of which he owns a share. Apparently his partners don't fly it... I think he had their legs broken or something.
Off we go from Runway 07 at 47N. It's a treat to sit in the right seat this time- never flew as a pax in a non-antique light single; in fact, I've never been up in a Cherokee.
We climb and turn south, leaving 47N behind.
Soon we're passing Princeton (?) Airport, one of several nice small airports along our route.
A nearby bridge... I've flown this way before, but never noticed that. Very nice to be sightseeing for a change...
A happy trio... I advised Marco and Helen to crop me out of their copy of this photo, because as usual, I look like an idiot. It was nice to meet these two- we all kept each other smiling, and I think I was privileged to get to ride in the seat usually occupied by Helen the "copilot"...
It's a very nice day for flying: just enough clouds to keep us company, and the visibility is superb. Marco's handling of the little Piper is smooth and relaxed. I don't care what people say, he's a pretty good stick. We'll be meeting Marco's friend Mark at Cape May (just a ways ahead of us, flying down in his club's Warrior); he's a member of Marco's own Pilot Lounge website, which for some reason I still haven't registered for... too busy spamming this place, I guess...
Next: NAS Wildwood Museum, etc.!!
