Air show impressions

Not far to go to the local show so I like to arrive early & have a wander round before the masses arrive. These are my impressions of Shoreham on a show day.

Apart from Charlie's 'tin cans' spoiling the effect this could have been taken at any time from the 1930s to the 60s when I first worked at the airport. Happy memories. ;)
Image

Mark Jeffries' smart Laser 200 which he built himself. I didn't know what it was when I took the shot.
Image

TD248 in its new paint scheme. Used to be red & silver. Didn't recognise it at first. Very smart but I think I prefer the old colours. :-/

Relaxing in the sunshine before the rush starts.

Ah, here's Haurel & Lardy. Shame I couldn't have got a better shot as they're very good & made me laugh out loud with their typical stupid antics. Apparently the Model T is the original one used in the films.
Image

Had to visit my old friend Jim Pearce while it was quiet to see what he's up to. He told me the Fw 189 is comiing along nicely. Most of the parts are ready for the riveting team to get to work. Any skilled riveters out there?

I got this after the show. The little girl has a full flying suit just like her dad. He was taking her round all the static aircraft, sitting her in & showing her the controls. Nothing like starting them young. ;)

A lovely little lady & obviously an old hand. Her face is painted which makes her look funny. Shame I couldn't get one when she was in the Chipmunk but you would only see the top of her head.

Ah well, time to go home now. Next year seems a long way away. Hope you enjoyed this little look behind the scenes.

Lovely stuff Doug, and starting the wee lassie on a Chippie seems a very sound idea to me ;) ;D

Well, I dissagree with you about the colours on TD468, looks far better in authentic colours ;) but I love your photos. Very nice work pal.

Thanks. Thought I would post something a little different for a change.

Ah well, there's plenty of camouflaged Spitfires around. The red & silver might not have been authentic but it suits the Spit & adds a bit of colour. Nothing nicer than to see the two racing Spits in formation. I thought it was TD248. Not like you to make a mistake Roger old chap.

Wonderful shots Doug ;)

Just looking at the grass...it looks like you folks need some rain?

In the refreshment tents at the airshows there, do they sell beer and spirits as well?

Thanks for posting them. :)

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

Thanks Doug. Strangely enough we had a storm soon after the show finished & it poured with rain all the following day. First real rain I've seen around here for weeks, if not months.

They sell refreshments in the refreshment tent & beer in the beer tent. We're civilized around these here parts. :D
