These are not fine quality, but I find them interesting...last time I was at friends' "down the shore", I saw quite a few banner-towing aircraft. These guys have inspired my dreams of flight since I was a little tyke, but I'm not so sure I'd want to earn my living picking up, towing, then precision-dropping these giant streamers. Might be fun to try it, though...
Caught this one while sitting on the porch a few blocks from the beach: usually they're out over the water; maybe he was heading south for another pass or something. Or possibly headed home; not sure where this one is based.
Probably a Citabria... you can clearly see the hook used to snag the banner line.
Classic beach bum: a (Super?) Cub with cowling removed to aid cooling (and, I'll bet, for quick service).
Off he goes, spreading the word about some drink special at a local bar...
This guy was working hard that day- came back with another banner.
Thank you, intrepid birdman- now we know all about the champagen brunch at Sunsets in Neptune!!
