I've been wanting to make a good panorama for some time.  At first I tried the stitching program that came with my camera.  After being thoroughly dissatisfied with the quality of its stitching, I went looking for alternatives.  As I very soon discovered, they are either outrageously expensive (some cost over $200!!!:o) or aren't good enough.  Fortunately, however, after a while I managed to stumble across a wonderful freeware utility called Autostitch.  It's extremely simple to use, and makes some wonderful panoramas.  You don't even need to install it!

After taking some pictures and putting them together, here's the result:

To give you a feel for just how big the whole thing is, here are some sections.

That's actually the same boat.  It drifted as I took the pictures.

That's really impressive. To be honest I like the indivual photos better than the panorama. Very nice shots.

They are not individual shots, only parts of the panorama.  Here is one of the original pictures:

Yeah, Autostitch is quite nice.  I find that it's a touch cleaner than Canon's PhotoStitch (which is bundled with EOS bodies), the only downside being that Autostitch can't handle cylindrical or planar projections (while PhotoStitch can).

Nice photos.
