Glad I had the camera: Chrysler Bldg w/chopper

Was waiting around on the 37th floor of a midtown bldg last evening;  had to check something in a conference room that had been comandeered by some guys for an unscheduled meeting. I asked another staff member to find out when they'd be through (always discreet! ;D); their reply was "two minutes".
Naturally, that meant about an hour, so I resorted to sitting by the window taking in the view. Whatever; I'm paid by the hour...Then I remembered I had the new camera with me, and took a few shots; pretty good considering they are thru dirty glass:
The Chrysler Building, one of my favorite NYC edifices...
the view is to the south; note the Verrazano Bridge in the distance. The sky was gorgeous that day...

Another reward for my patience: A news chopper slowly flew past the top of the building...

Nice pics! I myself was in NYC a few weeks ago. I was only there for a day, but it was pretty awesome!

Right- standing there looking at that, I was imagining FS textures that could do it justice. The pictures certainly don't. I love that building... :)

Glad you like the pictures. Those two properly show the two limits of what it can do: the zoom shot is at maximum optical zoom; works pretty well if I can brace the camera. The digital "superzoom" beyond that is pretty disappointing, but this lens is good enough to use without that.
Another great thing about these digital jobs is that they're so light, it's nothing to go around all day with it on my hip.
Try that with a film SLR, esp. my old metal Canon (Cannon)!!
Have to be careful not to crush it, though...  ;D

Neat shots!

Reminds me of Paris where I stood in front of the Tour Montparnasse... looked up and thought... there is no way on earth I'm getting to the top of that high-rise tube ( 56 stories)... i REALLY don't like hights... nor skyscrapers with only some elevators...

Yes, I've  heard about that. Nice spot for a picnic- I'd like to do that sometime.
