Departure day

Well, it seems I missed all the fun this year. Typical but never mind. I left for Shoreham bright & early this morning to see the boys leave. Should have popped over last evening but I was exhausted from the drive down from Yorkshire. Ozzy & I watched the fun on the airport webcam instead. Don't tell him but we missed a low flypast by the Spitfire.
Shoreham in the early morning mist. It was lovely when I left home, a few miles along the coast. Airfields are usually like this, in England anyway. Not bad today but can be the coldest & dampest places on the planet at times.

This is what I came for. Promised Mark a few shots but it's one of them Griffon-engined jobs this year. More later.

Mist didn't take long to clear & our French friends are the first to leave. Au revoir mes amis.

The Merlin departs for home. Settle down Mark. The helicopter, not the engine.

The Harriers ready to depart. This is always a sad moment as (apart from one or two old miseries who complain about the noise) these chaps are very popular at Shoreham. Hopefully they'll be back in a couple of weeks for the RAFA display. Not sure yet as they might be based at Biggin that weekend.

More in part 2.
