Was the diamond to show a recon or commanders plane?
Great pictures Doug, you got a good shot of that glider too.

Glad you like 'em.

No but I won't give the game away just yet.

A very nice Tiger in its peacetime scheme. Think this must be based at Old Warden. Charlie?
Mmm, it was the one giving pleasure flights, so maybe the operating company have decided it makes sense to pay rent to base it somewhere where it can have (at least ) two days of fairly solid custom per month...
I noticed a little Jodel is now resident in the newest hangar too...

Hooboy. Nice. I really like the Tiger better without the strakes... although I'd think differently if I found myself stalling one!

They're anti-spin strakes. I was reliably informed by one C.L. Pashley that they were fitted to the Tiger Moth after being developed to cure spinning problems with the Magister. There were several fatal accidents with the Maggie when it was first used by the RAF. He said the Tiger never needed them & I'm sure he was right. At least one of our 3 club Tigers never had them. Spinning & recovery was then part of the standard PPL training. I did my stalls & spins in KXO which had no strakes.

Uhh... yes, I know. I mentioned stalling because that's the first step in spinning.... but I have a hard time believing a Moth would bite like that.

Aha- I was right (maybe)... wish I'd learned on the "spin&recover" program, rather than the now-trendy "recognize&recover". Spins are fun (when they're planned)!

Hey Hagar, nice pics like always!
Well, I have no idea what the diamond is for-I assume is has something to do with identifing the plane but other than that I'm stumped. So, you going to let us know of are we to spend eternity in suspense (or has it already been revealed and I just missed it ::)).
