Another purty flower...

I love this one- didn't notice on the camera's LCD that I'd captured a dragonfly in this shot!! Cool!!
Image

Entering the amazing Rain Forest building, one encounters this gorgeous toucan, unfortunately behind (dirty) glass...
Image

The main hall has a very high glass ceiling; one walks amidst real and fake foliage and trees, with nothing between you and the critters. I spied a familiar silhouette way up high: a fruit bat!!
Image

Don't remember this thing's name, but it's beautiful, and was not shy.
Image

Harder to capture: the river otters, in their own little habitat outside. Hold still, dammit!!

Next: New York Polar Bears!! ;D

Amazing. My main gripe with digital viewfinders but that's a great shot. Some of the best things happen by accident. ;)

Seems this new camera's paying off already. :D

I'll tell ya, Doug- I didn't even see it on the LCD (didn't take the time to zoom in on it in preview)! Wasn't until I got home that I noticed it on the "big" screen. This kind of photography has its own nice rewards, like when you first open that pack of prints...
Bear in mind, too that that shot is cropped- lopped off about 50% of it (there were two more similar flowers).

Wow! fantastic! I didn't follow the camera-discussion, so I'm gonna look what you bought. These shots are amazing!

The yellow/oranged-beaked birdshots is captivating!  :o

I'd really like a larger version of that one...

Cheers,

Kris

Lovely toucan. When I was in Mexico, I saw one flying in the forests over there. Our guide said that was very unusual as he never saw one in the wild before!  :o
