Last but not least... Concorde!!

Here's the last of my USS Intrepid shots: The Concorde that is now on display alongside.
It's sort of sad to see this majestic bird yanked from active service and tied down to a barge forever, but I doubt I'd ever get this close to one otherwise.
No captions needed...

Very nice Rotty. That damn bird has teased me so many times either while I was traveling on the Brooklyn Bridge, or the ferry.. ::)

I assume you mean in flight? Before the day I took those pictures, I only saw one twice: Once on the tarmac at JFK while taxiing in an airliner, and once from Jersey City near the river- it was flying low and slow beneath clouds on its way up the Hudson. Must have been diverted around a storm cell or something... it was odd to see that.

Nice shots.

Is that as close as you can get to the cockpit?  Or was the acft pretty much opened up?

The first interior shot is looking aft; they herd you in (about 8 at a time)  thru the mid-fuselage door, and you can't go aft(roped off), so you go thru the fwd section of the cabin, which is made to look like a group of pax have just deplaned leaving pillows, magazines, and empty champagne bottles. But the seats are walled off with clear acrylic, so you can't touch anything or sit in a seat.
The flight deck is roped off too; that was as close as I could get, even leaning in some. You can't dawdle there too long, either- there's a crowd behind you waiting to see. Kinda lame, but that's why I took pictures.

kinda sad too see it tied down  :(

Only time I ever saw Concord was whilst taking off from CDG, it was just after the fleets were grounded and I saw a ramp full of Air France birds  8)

When I was young, there was a certain time of day I could look up and see the Concorde flying into Dulles.  Of course that route was eventually cancelled.  Never realized that this would be the last time I see the Concorde in flight.   :(

Stupid acrylic...I always hated when we went to visit the Louisville Science Museum...they've got a mock up Gemini Capsule in the space section. All those switches and buttons just dying to be touched.....

At least you are able to view it, albeit from a distance, still get inside the beauty.
