Oh, I love me some vintage planes!

I think the red you don't know is a Howard DGA.  Not sure though.

Great shots all the way around.

Yes, that's a Howard DGA 15P, N1227, one of several that made their way to AirVenture via my local strip, 3CU.

And she could be yours.  ;)

Yes, I know. I was commenting on the fourth one, actually. I miscounted. ::)

I then saw that Dave had answered it, and thought, "hey, maybe I should delete that last post so I don't look like an a$s." ::)

Oh a Beech Staggerwing  ;D ;D 8) There is a man (known to me) by the name of Mr. Eaton over at the Keene Dillant Hopkins airport that owns, and flies one of these beautaful craft. I was even pleasured to sit in her a few times.

Here's the part where everyone starts throwing marmalade left and right at me...

I have always thought the Staggerwing was just an ugly plane.

I have always thought the Staggerwing was just an ugly plane.  It looks totally goofy to me, and I fail to see the appeal it has to so many.  There must be something there, because so many people seem to like it, but I just don't get it.  ???

Kevin...
...have you ever "staggered" out of the pub, looked at that really beautiful girl across the road through your bleary eyes, waiting for the 'bus, and thought to yourself....
"...Jeeesss...she looks really ugly!..."...Hic... :o...!

LOL...!

Paul....Beauty is in the eye of the (sober) beholder... ;D...!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I always liked the Staggerwing because it's different. Very advanced for its time. A biplane with retractable gear & it's fast too. ;)

That 'goofy' wing arrangement is very practical if you think about it.

PS. I'd never seen one in the 'flesh' until about 5 years ago. Then I saw two on the same airfield. Bliss. 8)
