Oshkosh #2: The Vendors Hangers...

I really only took pics of the flight sim stuff, as everything else is pretty useless to me right now...  ;)

The Microsoft Booth...

X-plane put in a showing...

Flight 1 decided to concentrate on the proffesional side of the business offering a simulator based on FS2004 to flight schools.  Runs around $6500, I believe...
Image

C & H was there with there products for sale...

But this one beat them all.  This is a $150,000 simulator based on 1 meter resolution for the terrain.  In some situations, it even went down to 1/2 meter!  The 'plane' is a Diamond Katana and when I tried this out, it was the most incredible simulator I had ever sat in.  I got a little woozy from jostling around.  Incredible!  It uses three projectors that overlap each other to give the curved screen the image.  I swear, it was almost exactly like flying a real plane...

Of course I pumped the guys at the FS booth for info about FS 2006 and I did get two interesting things from them.  They basically told me "You know we can't talk about it" with a grin.

They did admit however, the the backwards compatibility issue was the main killer of CFS3 and it would most certainly NOT (their emphasis, not mine) be an issue with FS2006.  When I asked about the possibility of reviving the CFS series, they gave a BIG grin and said 'it is extremely possible."  Read what you want to into that...

You got slightly more out of them than I did at Blackpool.

Interesting, now which room at home is becoming your simulator room?

There is no doing that last simulator justice.

The garage, I guess.

I'm surprised more people aren't interested in that little tidbit about CFS3.  The way he said it, it sounded very possible...

I would hope that the CFS series gets "back on track" with FS ...  i.e - each one is a bit of an improvement over the other and cross.

I firmly believe that if MS provides "dual control" (and I think a facsimile of it CAN be done with CFS3 now) it would help flight instruction both in the FS world and as low cost RL practice

Haha, cool stuff, I loved the Flight1 sim they had. Today I was over there talking to one of the guys. He was from Dublin, a real cool guy. And they were selling some payware for pretty cheap. PC-12 for $20, hmmmm, maybe I'll pick it up tommorrow... ;)

I offered to write them a check.  Somehow, I think they knew it would bounce.  :)
