2005 Springfield Car Show

OK, well I just attended the final big car show of the year in my area (I still have a couple small ones, but this is the biggest-and my favorite).  Over 500 cars showed up for this show which and it was just amazing.  I took over 200 photos and here are 5 of the one's I liked the most.

This is an awesome 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Custom.  Let me start out by saying I liked this car so much I voted it as "Best of Show."  I didn't stay long enough to see if it won, but it may very well have.  It had a beautful yellow paint job, I thought of it as a "Retina Burning Yellow"-it looked really nice.  It had a custom interior and a 572ci stroked out big block V8.  So, it was an awesome car.

Next is an awesome 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS/RS396 Custom car; I voted for it as "Best in Class" for the Camaro/Firebird Modified Class (I was in the Camaro/Firebird Stock Class).  It had awesome flame paint which I usually don't like on muscle cars-but this one looked amazing!  The engine was covered in chrome, this was one of my favorite cars at the show.

This shot contains 2 cars.  The car on the right is a 1970 Dodge Charger R/T 440 which was a beautiful car.  I have always loved the Charger's especially the 1970 and this is a great example of one.  To the left is a purple 1971 Plymouth 'cuda 383.  The 'cuda was completely original and looked great!  Also, the same couple owned both cars.

This is an interesting car, I had never seen one of these models before.  It is a 1934 Plymouth Coupe Hot Rod.  It had very nice yellow paint with ghost flames (you can't really see them in the resized photo, on my high res copy you can).  But, best of all-this car was powered by the legendary 426 Hemi V8 engine.

Finally, this last photo is more of a group shot which I specifically posted for Dave.  I nicknamed this shot "Mustang Row."  What it actually is is a shot of the Ford Mustang Modified Class from the show.  All of these Mustangs have had some kind of custom modification done to them, most were stock looking but had performance changes.  Anyway, I liked this shot (I think there are 8 cars there) so I thought I would share it.

OK, those are 5 of the photos from the show.  I took a ton of photos during this show so if you want to see more let me know (and if there is a certain type of car I can see if I took a pic of one).  Anyway, I hope you liked them.   :)

Very nice, I liked reading the descriptions of them, since I really don't know a whole lot about cars. :)

Have any VW's?

I don't, there was only one at the show and I didn't take a picture of it.  It was like an early 70s VW bus and it was completely original but it didn't seem all that special so I didn't photograph it.

Now that Cuda and Charger is what I like.  I really hate it when someone takes a classic car and modifies it for looks...  Like those big stupid flashy rims, or taking all the moldings and chrome off...  Pretty much what they do on all those TV shows where they rebuild people's cars for them.  Whats the point of owning a classic car if you're going to modify it so its like new?  (Kind of like going camping in one of those giant RVs...  Hardly going to get in touch with nature or ruff it sitting comfortably inside a bus...  With a bed...  And a microwave...  ::) Sorry, rant over. )

My Uncle had a 1968 Dodge Charger with the 440 hemi, three speed standard trany, and a 410 posi rear end.  He said he could roast 'em through all three gears and that he could beat anybody's car on the track or on the street, modified or stock.  I wish he hadn't sold it.  But I can't imagine what a hole it would burn in his pocket to insure it and fill the tank.  An engine like the 440 must burn gas like a...  gas fire.  :P

Gotta love them Stangs, man!  Beautiful machines!  Especially the '68 GT500 convertibles and the '71 Boss 427s, but those are a bit rare... Most of those in the pic look to be '64-'68s, tho I noticed that bright yellow one (between the red and blue ones) may be a '69 or later.

The Camaro... just on the good side of over-done!

And I kinda like the big-rim craze.  I've seen it overdone (in which case, it can look really stupid) and certain cars just look crappy with big-inch chrome, but I've seen it look simply amazing, too!

Most of those in the pic look to be '64-'68s, tho I noticed that bright yellow one (between the red and blue ones) may be a '69 or later.

The yellow one is a 1969 Mustang 351, the interior had custom gauges and some minor custom features.

Nice!  Looks even better up close!  And a 351 is nothin' to sneeze at, you can get huge power outta those if ya build em up right!

And from the first post, you may be right about the green one.  Bit hard to see it, tho.

love the yellow 351

the hemi rod is pretty cool too

so is having a 572ci 56 shoebox (is it the gm crate 572?)

I didn't ask the owner of the car,  but I would assume it is a crate engine.  It used the same type of HEI distributer as the 572 crate motors and it had aluminum heads like those motors.  I assume it was-but I don't know for sure (I doubt building a custom 572 would produce any extra power and it would sure cost a lot more).
