my sister was named after this one ;D hehehe, anod no, her name is not Canso :P 'tis my dad's fav plane of all time...there are a few Cats converted into turboprops still flying in Colombia and Brazil, and im not too sure, but as of Jul2000 there was a fully original catalina from WWII that didnt make it home to the U.S. after the war (somehow ended up in Colombia) and it was still in service withthe very old scrapped almost unrecognizable sky blue paint. it was based near a village in the amazonas jungle, thats the last i knew of it, i dunno if its still around. i saw her once. ehehe

aweosme shots!

Lovely shots Doug ;)

The Canso certainly brings back memories, a sore back and aching arms and not to mention hours and hours of boredom in the air. ::)

Was my all time favorite there by any chance, the old Stringbag?  Now that was an aeroplane.  Do you have any pictures of her you can post?

Thanks for the Navy shots...much appreciated.

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

Now that's more like it!! ;D
Thanks for all of those, esp. the gorgeous Tigercat. Seems I was wrong (again  ;D)- there are several airworthy 'cats around, and the one you've shown is based at Duxford.
Still, they are a rare sight, and one of my favorite warbirds.
