A little light relief

Light being the operative word. Vintage light aircraft were always my first love. After all the noise & bustle of Duxford Legends I needed a little relaxation. Big air displays aren't really my thing these days. I had a lovely day out at the British Light Aircraft fly-in at Popham on Sunday. Things still get a tad hectic there at times but it's peaceful & far less crowded. My idea of paradise on a nice sunny day. 8) ;)

These took off in quick succession. First a beautiful DH.60M Moth in Brooklands Flying Club colours.
Image

Next a rare DH.60G III Moth Major ....
Image

....... the "missing link" between the original Moth & this, the legendary DH.82a Tiger Moth.
Image

Hey. What's this? Another Moth Major. Blimey, he's not hanging about. Amazing. :o

Now for the Austers. A very smart Autocrat.
Image

Aiglet trainer with snazzy spats. Very posh.
Image

Think this is an AOP.6. The owner told me he has two Austers. I forgot to ask him which types.
Image

Austers used to be quite common & I never took much notice of them. They're all very similar & I was never too good at recognising the subtle differences between the various types. I think there's still plenty about but I haven't seen too many recently.

I love the Auster. Great little plane with alot of Character, along with the Beaver we had them as gate guards at middle wallop, with one flying over all the time. Sounded great:)
brilliant photos Doug.

Lovely Doug - I love the Moth Majors, particularly ABZB! Interesting undercarriage on the Tiggie - looks a little swept forward...

Hehehe. I love Moths - real aeroplanes. 8)

Now you come to mention it. Must admit I hadn't noticed before. Note it has a rather large tailwheel. Maybe it's been modified for some reason.

Wonderful Doug ;)

Real aeroplanes...none of this suck and blow stuff.

Can't wait to get over next year to  see that little piece of heaven of yours ;)

As always thanks for posting them.

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug
