It's been quite a weekend one way & another. Here's a few more snapshots to give some idea of the atmosphere at the Shuttleworth Sunset Display on Saturday.

Double vision. :o Two of these at Old Warden now. ;)

Very nice flying in the gusty conditions.

Hey, I didn't know the RV4 was aerobatic. :o Very smooth display by a newcomer on the scene.

Let #2 serve as a reminder to Mark why one should never attempt low level passes through someone's backyard.

Very nice Doug. Interesting formation of the PProvost and the Lizzie :) Are both the Ryan's residents now? On my trip on thursday Hangar 8 was inaccessible due to the work on 7. I wonder if its been evicted from the ARCo hangar due to other projects at Duxford.

To the best of my knowledge yes but I don't know if it's temporary. Peter Holloway agreed it's getting a tad crowded while they're working on the hangar but he didn't seem concerned. I assume they're repairing the hangar roof.

So, Doug, when do you think you may be getting some use out of the new technology of digital cameras..... ::)

Good stuff bud.........very nice work, once again.  :o

I'm sure that first shot will be held in high regard by Space Ace......didn't he do one for the sim ?

That would explain where the roof had gone! :)

Forgot to mention these sunset shots are extraordinary!! :o
Question: how do they do that "clothesline" pass? Do they pick it up in formation, or take off with it? Never seen that done...

The light is perfect on these evening displays. Providing the weather's OK it's almost impossible to take a bad shot at Old Warden. They take off in formation with the lines attached - then break the lines before landing.

Very clever flying but this is pretty tame stuff compared with the tied-together formation aerobatics displays by the RAF teams at Hendon in the 1930s.

Uh... yes, looking again, I can see that it's tied on, especially on the center ship. Not easy to take off like that, I bet.

In fact if I'd been standing in the right place I could could have got a great shot from directly behind as they took off down the hill. The wind was gusty & in an awkward direction so they weren't using the usual runway. I got a few landing shots but these were taken almost directly into the sun. A bit hit & miss as I couldn't see anything in the viewfinder.
