Hi all,

have just got back from Torquay's 'Last Night of the Proms' at Cockington Court (Torquay)( ::)).

It was the first time I'd been, & although I wouldn't class myself as a fan of classical music, I really enjoyed it - I've always been a sucker for 'Rule Brittania' & 'Land of Hope & Glory' though.

It was nice to see some good old fashioned patriotism without the 'p.c.' brigade coming down on everyone.

A view from near the back off the crowd:

& a quick shot from the front:

Starting of with 663 Squadron (Dambusters Theme):

Getting Dark with the William Tell Overture:

Finishing with 'Pomp & Circumstance' (Land of Hope & Glory) - what else could you finish with??:

All in all it was a fantastic evening with a brilliant atmosphere & well worth going - all of the money raised will be going to local charities aswell - bonus!!

Cheers for looking,

TSC.

Looks like a wonderful time! ;)

I don't listen to that kind of music most of the time either, but to hear something like that live would be something to remember. :)

Exactly - I wouldn't play it in the car, but when it's live like that it's a whole new ball game.

I had a really nice night - & some really nice wine aswell.

;D

Which orchestra was playing?

There's nothing quite like it ........ a balmy summers evening ....... a symphony orchestra and loads of beer and food.

Haven't done that for years ........ I must check what's going on at Chatsworth over the summer.

The music was performed by the West of England Philharmonic Orchestra.
