Looks like you had a great time yesterday Doug.

Now is this a once a year fly-in or an annual week-end thing?

It is good to see General Aviation or what we like to call Grass Roots Flying going so strong there. It is a little early here for some grass strips as there is a lot of water lying about and more rain on the way.
About May 24th it starts to get really nice here in Southern Ontario.  Our weather here is influenced by the Great Lakes and several lakes are larger than some countrys. :)

Please keep posting your photos they are wonderful.

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

Glad you like 'em. It was a wonderful day out. ;)

They hold these fly-ins at Popham on a monthly basis throughout the season. Various themes although other types turn up. The next one is the Vintage Cessna Fly-in on 12th June. Next weekend is G-VFWE, the Great Vintage Flying Weekend, at Hullavington this year. This is probably the biggest light aircraft meeting in the country. Let's hope the weather is OK. http://www.zolid.com/cirrus/

It is good to see General Aviation or what we like to call Grass Roots Flying going so strong there.

It was very healthy until recently but I'm told it's getting more difficult every day. This is due to the usual complaints from residents about aircraft nuisance & new EU insurance legislation among other things - the same directive that grounded B-17 Sally B this month. The PFA just avoided light aircraft suffering from the same fate by being classed in the same insurance category as commercial airliners. ::) It's becoming just too expensive for the average enthusiast. A little bird told me yesterday that Popham as we know it might not be able to carry on much longer. Don't wish to be a wet blanket but I'm making the most of it while I can. :'(

PS. This is Popham airfield as it is now. http://www.popham-airfield.co.uk/Index.htm

You make me so green with envy on these shots Doug.......
......
a while back I only needed to drop in to our local airpark and hangar 37 to see an RV-6 and Vagabond in the same line of sight,.......now I have to wait for an arrival in order to see the Vans......no more on the field.......... :'(

......very nice indeed, and a fine day to display these wonderful recreational vehicles.......good shooting !

There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!
