Open-window KEWR arrivals...

Finally warm enough recently to open my bedroom windows and break out the ol' telephoto lens... wouldn't you know it, before I can even get the tripod set properly and put the shutter cable on, here comes that darn Virgin 747...

Blurry, I know... next time I'll check the schedule and be ready for it.

Here's some more, with everything set up as it should be. I'll leave the identification to those who know their airliners...

They're not as close to that smokestack as they may appear... that bldng. is about 3 blocks away, and the approaches for 22L/R are more like a mile and a half away. I like to leave the stack in the pictures; adds interest.

Got a few more I'll post later, including an airline I can't identify...

Yep... but it was more the shutter-release cable. With that long lens, I'm surprised those came out at all, with me actually touching the camera. It was on the tripod, but I didn't quite have it in the right place, so by the time I was tracking that 747, I was already too close to the window frame. You can see it in #2, that dark blurry line...
Glad you like the chimney  ;). That old factory building is actually a nice piece of brickwork- I should take some proper pictures of it. It survived a massive outbreak of new houses that required the demolition of several other old buildings... according to rumor, it was spared because it is highly contaminated (it was used to store Agent Orange or something like that).

Thanks. I recognized the companies, and the DC-10 I know well- it was the Airbus I wasn't sure of.
