Hagar & Charlie's Grand Day Out...

Postby C » Sun May 01, 2005 3:43 pm

The first airshow of the season at Old Warden...

What a Typhoon Test Pilot does in his spare time... Just completing his first display in the Jungmann - having converted to type in a 12 minute sortie in the morning! Total Jumgmann time - 24 mins!

Gratuitous Spitfire photo's for Ozzy. This particular SPit is known to have escorted "Memphis Belle" on at least one occasion...

G-EBWD, DH 60X (Hermes) Moth. This aircraft was Richard Shuttleworth's first. It is also a world record holder as having been based at the same airfield for the longest time. It has been at Old Warden since 1932 (73 years)

Hopefully Doug's flying ones have come out well...

Nice one Charlie. ;) It certainly was a grand day out. Most enjoyable start to the season. :D

Hopefully Doug's flying ones have come out well...

Hmmm. Think I'm getting a tad ambitious. I'll post some of the better ones later. ::) ;)

Almost seems like you and Doug attended 2 different airshows  ;D... lovely variety of planes there. That Jungmann looks great!

Thanks all. It was a very nice day - the weather hadn't looked too promising the night before. Unfortunately both the Hurricane and Lysander couldn't display as both went U/S, but they did fly in the morning. The Gladiator apparently has a magneto problem and again was a no show, but still with the aircraft they have at OW the show was varied, and we even had 3 different displays by the same Chipmunk!!! Doug's photos capture 2 of them I think...

That's the beauty of "amateur" photographers, each one adds his own flavour to the event.

Not only that but I think Omag was referring to the completely different selection of aircraft. It was a very varied show & we can't possibly show you everything without taking over this forum. ;)

Thanks Andrew. I like that one too. It's a very photogenic aeroplane - shame about the steps in front of the wing and the cover on the prop...
